For years and years I have always wanted to find a way to work at home. I had worked outside of the home for 10 years but after my daughters were born, I really wanted to be able to stay home with them. I did a lot of research online and looked into various money-making opportunities, which even included "get rich" schemes, and lost a lot of money. I soon found out that if it is too good to be true, then it probably is. I ended up taking a course in Medical Transcription and was lucky to find work as an independent contractor at home but it took a lot of hours and persistence. I still own my own transcription company today (14 years later) and enjoy it. However, I still always had the desire to find other ways to earn money on the internet, to have multiple streams of income coming in.

Four years ago I came across an e-book called Honest Riches written by a single mother named Holly Mann. I was very skeptical but decided to go ahead and purchase the book. I was really surprised to find that these methods discussed in this book were really feasible and actually worked, not a way to "get rich overnight." This book provides you with the most profitable and up-to-date ways to build income streams through a range of different methods. I really liked the idea that you don't have to have a website to make money, although I am working on launching a website in the very near future. Holly provides honest and real tools to succeed in earning an honest online income. I also learned by using a lot of her techniques and tools that you can make money with no money upfront, but again, I am in the process of building a website using Holly's skills she teaches in her book. What I also appreciate is the fact that Holly has a work-at-home forum where you can actually ask her questions and get advice from other successful internet marketers.

Right now with the bad economy and lots of people losing jobs, higher gas prices equaling higher prices on almost everything, more and more people are looking to find ways to make money on the internet. Having said that, people have to be very careful when looking for ways to earn money online. There are so many scams out there, get rich quick schemes, etc. Please be careful when looking into programs or books that promise you big money earnings with little or no work. In reality, it takes time and lots of work to create a profitable online business. There are truely no ways to get rich quick unless you win the lottery but the odds of that are almost nil.

You can also publish calendars, CDs, music and many other products. After you obtain an ISBN#, it becomes available worldwide through libraries, online bookstores, etc. My daughter's books are available through Amazon, B&N, and different bookstores all over the world.

15 free traffic techniques that work:

1. Submit your site to the major search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN) and to as many other search engines as you can.

2. Write 1-2 articles each week and submit them to the free article directories. Be sure to include a link to your site after each article in your bio box. The articles should be optimized for a keyword your site is targeting.

3. Submit those same articles to email newsletter publishers in your niche.

4. Find blogs related to your topic and leave useful comments with a backlink to your site. Here's a great free tool you can use to find the best targeted blogs where you can leave your backlinks.

5. Answer questions related to your site’s topic at answers.yahoo.com. Be sure to put a link to your site in each of your answers.

6. Join a handful of the most popular forums that deal with your site's topic and become an active poster. Include a link to your site in your signature.

7. Write a press release about your site and submit it to press release sites such as prweb.com. If you are not familiar with press releases, take some time to do a little research: a press release is not written like an article.

8. If you are happy with a product or service you have used, write an unbiased testimonial and trade it for a backlink to your site.

9. Start a blog on blogger.com and a blog on wordpress.com, link them to your site and submit them to the hundreds of free blog directories. This will get you plenty of quality traffic as long as you keep your blogs updated.

10. Post ads with a link to your site on all the free classified ad sites you can find (such as craigslist.org). The best ones will allow you to post a live link. But don’t neglect the other ones. If your ad is well written, people will go out of their way and type your url in their browser. Off course you must post in the appropriate category.

11. Write an interesting email signature that includes a link to your site, and use it with every outgoing business email you send.

12. Start a page on myspace.com and on any other high page rank social bookmarking site you can find and link them to your site.

13. Submit a viral video to youtube.com. You don’t really need any video producing know-how as a simple PowerPoint slideshow with some background music will do the job.

14. Search your main keywords on Google and see if you can exchange reciprocal links with related websites that come up in the top results.

15. Write an ebook or a short report (say 10 to 20 pages), or find a product with giveaway rights that you can brand with a link to your site. Then submit it to all the free ebook directories you can find online.

While all this looks like a full time job, remember, you don’t have to use them all at once. Just pick the one you feel the best with and act now. Invest 30 minutes to an hour daily in building your free traffic.

My favorite way to make money is through affiliate marketing, in which you sign up to be an affiliate with a company (i.e. Amazon, GNC, Linkshare, etc.) and get paid a percentage of the profit. You can even start a blog and put links on there referring people to Amazon to buy a product. Honest Riches also describes in detail how to make money being an affiliate. Below I mentioned my new website that I created on gourmet foods (gourmetfoodandgifts.com). I build this website myself and was amazed how easy it was to do. I am still working on it and have lots to do but the program they use makes it so simple with easy tools, over 2000 designs to choose from, and drag-and-drop techniques. I have absolutely NO knowledge in website building, know nothing about html and all of the other website code knowledge, etc., but was able to create a very nice looking, professional website in only a small amount of time. After I finish this one, I have ideas on some other websites I would like to design.

After just discussing Travis Sago's Bum Marketing Method, I took further steps and ordered Holly Mann's E-book "Honest Riches" for only $37. I am so amazed at all of the information she talks about in this book. She gives so many different ideas and ways to make money online with or without a website. Being fairly new to internet marketing myself, I have to say that this e-book is so easy to understand and she explains it in very easy terms, all step-by-step, so beginners can understand how to get started. I have read other e-books for internet marketing and was extremely confused that I almost gave up. But Holly explains everything in easier terms. And, she even has a money-making forum where you can ask questions (Including Holly herself) and meet other folks who are internet marketers.
